Tonight, I ended up writing two articles.
It was thanks to Work, a feature of some recently released AI called Atlas or something like that.
I did not even know that a new AI had been released. A video about it simply appeared among my YouTube recommendations, so I asked ChatGPT, “What is this?”
ChatGPT explained that an AI feature called Work had been released and that it could operate a computer and carry out tasks according to my instructions.
I was skeptical, but I asked ChatGPT how to use it.
As a result, I found several jobs I could ask Work to do: listing products and organizing everything Flower Jem has written on its website and YouTube.
For product listings, my goal is to provide only the article, pearl photographs, and videos. I am teaching Work to take care of all the tedious little tasks required to put everything on the website.
It seems almost capable of doing this now, but ChatGPT can be rather scatterbrained at times, so progress has not been entirely smooth.
ChatGPT and I are preparing an Excel sheet containing all the instructions and information that Work needs. But when I finally ask Work to begin, it sometimes tells me, “There is no information in the specified Excel sheet.”
Then I ask ChatGPT what happened, and it responds with something like, “Sorry, I forgot.”
It makes me angry, but I also find it rather endearing.
Tonight, I asked Work to organize my articles.
The Flower Jem website contains around 150 articles, while the descriptions of my YouTube videos contain approximately 517 pieces of writing.
I asked Work to read through all of them and identify the subjects that appear on YouTube but have not yet been turned into articles on the website.
From those results, I revised and published two articles tonight: one about visiting a pearl nucleus manufacturing plant, and another comparing pearl necklaces from Tsushima and Yusu.
The fact that it could examine around 500 pieces of writing in just over ten minutes was genuinely astonishing.
If someone asked me to do that, I would absolutely refuse.
Recently, following ChatGPT’s advice, I have been focusing less on writing new articles and more on organizing what I have already written so that visitors can find and understand it more easily.
The arrival of an AI like Work could not have come at a better time. It is proving extremely helpful.
According to ChatGPT, all of my more than 500 pieces of writing will eventually be organized into something called the “Flower Jem Library.”
Organization is certainly a good thing. Being told not to write too much and to put everything in order is also sensible. But I sometimes wonder whether making everything too neat and proper will cause Flower Jem to lose some of its character.
When I first started, I did not know what else to write about pearls beyond their specifications. So I wrote diary entries and miscellaneous thoughts instead.
A few people seemed to enjoy them, so it gradually became worse and worse, and I continued writing whatever came into my head at that particular moment.
I think that is what makes my writing mine.
Still, I also understand what the AI is telling me.
When I eat pasta at home, I use chopsticks.
When I eat pasta outside, however, I use a fork.
In the end, perhaps that is what I am thinking about.
This article is once again rather untidy, but I enjoy writing freely like this and simply following my thoughts.
For a while, however, I will follow the AI’s advice. I will work on organizing what I have already written so that visitors can enjoy Flower Jem a little more smoothly.
Yes—just as I use a fork when eating pasta away from home.
