This is an Akoya pearl necklace.

The length is 90 cm.
It is strung on polyester thread and, unusually, it is not fully all-knotted.
Because of this, the necklace has a very soft and flexible drape.

As you can see, there is no clasp.
It is designed to be tied and worn.

Flower Jem has not had a necklace quite like this before.
Yes, this piece was created based on a customer’s request.

To better understand the design, I personally tried wearing it in several different ways.
There are many ways to enjoy this necklace, and I found that process quite enjoyable.

Ah, I should mention—some of the pearls near the ends are knotted.
It is not fully all-knotted, but partially knotted.

At the very ends, the 9 mm pearls are finished with Swarovski glass to conceal the drill holes.
I believe this adds a small but charming accent.

As I mentioned, because the thread is not fully knotted, the necklace is exceptionally flexible.
This is, in my opinion, a very appealing feature.

I am actually considering borrowing this design and creating another version myself.

I am truly grateful to receive such wonderful ideas from customers.
Every day, the number of pearl pieces I want to create continues to grow.
It is genuinely exciting.

I may not have enough time to make everything right away,
but I feel a bit like a child looking forward to a school excursion.

With your ideas and Flower Jem’s pearls,
what shall we create together?

I would like to add a bit more to this piece, as the images alone may not fully convey its structure.
The construction of this necklace is quite simple,
but the main challenge was how to incorporate the pearls at the ends.

Most necklaces have a clasp.
When stringing pearls, this clasp is used to secure the ends.
However, this necklace has no clasp, which means the final pearls cannot be fixed in the usual way.

To solve this, pearl pins were used so that the end pearls hang freely, almost like earrings.
Additionally, Swarovski glass has been set at the base of these pearls to conceal the drill holes.

With this approach, it became possible to construct the necklace entirely with thread, without the need for a clasp.

I was particularly impressed by the feel of this necklace.
It has a gentle presence—not too light, not too heavy—
like a cat leaning softly against your leg.
