Hello, this is Flower Jem.
Thank you for visiting the page for this necklace.

This is an Akoya pearl necklace made with no-toned, natural-color pearls in the 7–8 mm range.
It is all-knotted with a pale mint-green thread. The thread is almost invisible, which I feel adds a subtle sense of refinement.

The pearls have strong luster and smooth surfaces.
If I were to rate the luster on a five-level scale, it would be around four.

I have spent many years viewing pearls entered in the Hanadama Pearl Competition, which is held annually in Japan, so I do not give the highest rating lightly.

The nacre is thick, and the pearls are very appealing.
These pearls come from a region called Yusu, which is known for its advanced Akoya pearl farming techniques.

I have a relationship with a pearl dealer who sources directly from pearl farms in that region, which allows me to acquire pearls from them.

Yusu pearls are especially known for their high level of skill in the “two-nuclei insertion” technique, in which two nuclei are inserted into a single Akoya oyster.
They may not be widely famous, but among specialized pearl dealers, their technical skill is well recognized and unquestionable.

On the day I made this necklace, it snowed in Kobe, which is quite rare.
That is not exactly why I named it Quiet Snow, but the pearls are certainly as white as snow.
The pearls have strong luster and are beautiful, but because they are baroque in shape, the price is significantly lower.
For someone like me, who is a fan of baroque pearls, this is nothing but an advantage.

If you focus on roundness, the price of pearls rises immediately.
Round pearls are lovely, of course, but the essential beauty of pearls lies in their luster, the thickness of the nacre that supports it, the smoothness of the surface, and the minimal presence of wounds.
Even a round pearl loses much of its appeal if the luster is weak or the nacre is thin.
When purchasing pearls, myself included, everyone has a budget.
If there were no budget limit, high-quality round pearls would certainly be an option.
But when that is not the case, the price must be adjusted somewhere.
Choosing baroque pearls allows the price to come down significantly.
A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Shape is purely a matter of personal preference. It affects price, but it is unrelated to quality.
Wounds, on the other hand, do affect quality, and of course they also affect price.
There is an article that explains in detail whether there is a correlation between personal preference when choosing pearls, pearl quality, and pearl pricing.
Its perspective aligns with that of the Japan Pearl Promotion Society, and I consider it reliable.
It explains the six elements that make up pearl beauty, how each element relates to personal values and quality, and how they influence price.
I believe it is a useful reference when purchasing pearls.
Incidentally, the article seems to be published by a Japanese pearl shop called Flower Jem.

This necklace is available for sale on both Etsy and the Flower Jem website.
At the very bottom of the Flower Jem homepage, you will find a newsletter subscription form.
By subscribing, you will receive a 30 percent discount coupon.
This is possible because purchases made through the Flower Jem website do not incur the various fees charged when selling on Etsy, and I return that difference to the customer.
The newsletter is sent once or twice a month and features articles about pearls, so I recommend subscribing if you are interested in Akoya pearls.
The production process of this necklace is also featured on the Flower Jem YouTube channel.
If you would like to examine the quality of the pearls more closely, you may find it helpful.
The pearls are shown in their everyday state, filmed without a proper studio setup.
It is a bit like seeing a movie actor on a day off.
Please take your time and enjoy.
Thank you.
