Akoya natural blue pearl earrings, 9-12mm seawater pearls, K14 White gold fittings, for those without pierced ears

Sold Out

Welcome to the sales page for these Akoya pearl earrings.

These earrings were originally made as silver stud earrings.
Through Etsy, a customer asked, “Can you change the findings to K14 white gold?”

Of course, I was happy to accept the request.

I ordered the new fittings and sent the completed photos to the customer.

She replied, “Gold is beautiful, but I think white gold would make the blue pearls stand out more. Didn’t I say white gold from the beginning?”

She was absolutely right. Somehow, I had ordered K18 gold fittings and made the earrings in K18 gold.

I apologized and ordered white gold earring fittings, then remade the earrings.

I may be a little absent-minded, but thanks to this mistake, I was able to compare the same pearls set in gold and in white gold.

I am truly sorry that the customer had to wait an extra week because of this.

Like many jewelry stores, Flower Jem can change fittings, pearls, or create a piece inspired by a design you provide.
However, I cannot always reproduce a customer’s design perfectly.
Especially when metal engraving is required, there are limits. My metalworking skills are still far from professional level.
Even so, you can expect fittings that are uniquely Flower Jem.

Now, let me introduce these earrings in more detail.

The pearls used here are over 9 mm in size.

At the pearl farm, a nucleus suitable for producing an 8 mm pearl was inserted into the Akoya oyster and cultivated for about two years. However, more nacre formed than expected, resulting in pearls of this larger size.

Some people ask, “Aren’t pearls supposed to be round?”
In reality, pearls come in many different shapes.

At the supermarket, you see vegetables with relatively uniform shapes. But if you visit a field before harvest, you will find vegetables of many different forms.
It is the same with pearls. In nature, they develop in various shapes and colors.

One characteristic of baroque pearls like these is that many layers of nacre have formed—in other words, they have thick nacre.

If I compare it to vegetables, they are like “well-ripened produce.”

The beauty of a pearl depends on its strong luster, and the thick nacre that gives that luster depth.

These earrings feature uniquely shaped baroque pearls with deep, rich luster. You can enjoy beautiful overtones of green, pink, and silver layered over a blue base color.

Please continue enjoying the Flower Jem website.

Thank you for visiting.

By the way, the gold fittings shown below are the earrings I made by mistake.

They are the same pearls, but the impression changes noticeably depending on whether the fittings are gold or silver.

The pearls come from a pearl farm in Nagasaki Prefecture, specifically in Tsushima, Japan.

This beautiful Akoya oyster was also cultivated in Tsushima.

Pearl Bless You
