Pudding – Akoya Natural Blue Baroque Pearl Stud Earrings
These earrings have the adorable name “Pudding.”

They were made alongside five other pairs of earrings.
Over the past year or so, Flower Jem has developed a habit of giving each pearl creation its own name.
Before that, my products simply had names like “Pearl Earrings” or “Akoya Pearl Necklace.”

I think this was largely influenced by the ten years I spent working for a pearl company.
The company’s main business was buying and selling pearls harvested from pearl farms through auctions, along with wholesale trading. Retail was something the company did almost just to pass the time, so the idea of giving individual pearl creations their own names never really occurred to me.

After starting Flower Jem, I gradually began receiving more orders.
But whenever I wanted to look back and find out who had purchased which piece, product names like “Akoya Necklace” or “Akoya Pearl Earrings” made it difficult to identify anything quickly.

So I started naming my creations.
And something interesting happened.
Each name began to bring back memories of making that particular piece, along with the conversations I had with the customer who purchased it.

In a way, these names are like the titles of diary entries.
I personally love this.
When I see a customer’s name, I remember, “Oh, that’s the person who bought that necklace!”
And when I see the name of a necklace, I remember, “Oh, that’s the one that person ordered!”
The memories and the names have become connected.

Anyway, I’ve gone on for quite a while about something completely unrelated to these earrings.
Now, why “Pudding”?
It’s because the surface of these pearls looks soft to me.
The pearls have smooth surfaces, but their luster is slightly subdued. There is a very subtle, almost cloudy quality to their reflections.

Of course, their luster is still above average in terms of pearl quality. It’s just that compared with top-grade pearls, their reflections appear a little softer and less sharp.
That quality reminded me of the surface of pudding.
Pudding also has a beautifully smooth, reflective surface, but it’s soft, isn’t it?
And now, one more little story.
The pearl pairs used for these earrings and the other five pairs actually came from an earlier customer request.
That customer wanted earrings with strong luster and the deepest blue color possible.
At the time, I put together around ten pairs of pearls to meet that request.
Those ten pairs were then left untouched for quite some time.
Recently, I went back to them, selected six pairs, and finally turned them into finished earrings.

These earrings also feature 18K gold findings.
In the early days of Flower Jem, I rarely used 18K gold unless a customer specifically requested it.
However, thanks to the influence of a customer who particularly loves 18K gold, I’ve gradually developed a liking for it myself and have started using it more often.
The entire process of making these earrings and the other five pairs was recorded on YouTube, completely unedited.
Watching the whole thing would be quite an endurance test, since nothing has been edited out!

But it does give you a chance to see the pearls as they really are, behind the scenes, without any special presentation.
You can see their natural appearance and get a closer look at their actual quality.
Finally, I hope you’ll also take a look at the other earrings—Night Sky, Marshmallow, Sun-Dried, Dawn, and Thumbs Up.

I would be very happy if you enjoyed discovering the different kinds of beauty that these pearls have to offer.

Now, as I’m writing this article and looking at the photos of these pearls, I have to admit that their beautiful luster doesn’t really remind me of pudding at all.
It’s only when compared with top-grade pearls that their luster appears slightly cloudy. They really are very beautiful pearls.

🌸These earrings were made alongside five other pairs of earrings.
The entire creation process was recorded on video without any editing. You can see the pearls in their natural, unpolished state behind the scenes and get a closer look at their actual quality.
In the videos, the six pairs of earrings are labeled as follows:
A – Marshmallow
B – Night Sky
C – Dawn
D – Pudding
E – Sun-Drying
F – Thumbs Up

Here is a 48-second video comparing all six pairs of earrings.
And here is a behind-the-scenes video showing how all six pairs of earrings were photographed for their product listings and how the videos were edited.
